I live a short walk from a Hillsong church in Sydney. Those of us in Sydney who are against such churches are sorry to people of other cities and other countries for the spread of such a cult.
People who have never been into a Hillsong Church before being very critical.. Shaking my head. I have been into a Hillsong church a few times and it was really great... Good teachings, great worship band, very powerful lyrics, and they attracts teens to the knowledge of God.. Advert or no advert, they are giving hope to teens through the gospel of Jesus. They have my support 100%
They just have very talented musicians and speakers, not anything special given from any god.
They preach prosperity doctrine, which is incredibly harmful when they get political influence. The idea that wealth means you must be a good person to have been so rewarded, and that poverty is a punishment for that person's sins or lack of faith. Even I can tell that they're not following Jesus, they're following their own selfishness.
It is terrifying how much marketing goes on. There are timers and goal points. Strategic methods used to guilt people to donate more so the leaders can drive around in cars twice our annual income.
It originates from a place off good intent. However it has become so big it has become more about the show/performance and marketing with some faith. But my during Hillsong experience, I found it a very lonely church to attend with very limited fellowship or connections with people who cared about reaching out to other people. But it was what I needed at that time and I did enjoy the show. There is a place for all types of church in this world. As their numbers are growing be it due to marketing or faith, it appears there is a human need for this type off church. Even with all its flashy gimics and modernity that appeals to those that enjoy a good show, myself included, from time to time myself.
A lot of people love attending Hillsong. It is an Australian Church and I am Australian. I believe that it is a busines model that intends to recruit young people into Christianiry, while making its money from record labels and cafes. In Australia, there are great incentives for Churches in forms of tax benefits. However, like a lot of Church organizations, it is knowing where to draw the line. Gets me every time.
A couple of key details left out of the article. The first and most obvious is that Hillsong has been consistently called out by different theologians, discernment ministries, and churches, for their Unbiblical doctrines, many of which are serious enough to disqualify them as being within the realm of orthodox Christianity. "Elevation", another church cited in the article, is part of the aberrant "Emergent" movement and has received similar criticism. That seems like a pretty significant detail to leave out. The second is that only a specific category of churches are losing members. Mainstream and liberal churches, as well as, ironically, churches that copy Hillsong's entertainment over ministry model, are hemorrhaging members. Reformed and confessional churches are growing rapidly.
In my experience going to these churches, it’s a lot of show with some twisted theology in an effort to keep people in the pews, thus insuring their paychecks.
But hey, I like the free coffee and donuts.
Music is the easiest way to heart, worship songs does works a lot in coming closer to God.
Fan of Hillsong worship and Hillsong United..
Can you share where you gathered the information from that states that Christianity has dropped by almost eight percentage points from 2007 to 2014? Interested to learn how comprehensive this study was, geographically where does this cover, and what were the study parameters? Thanks
“Over a period of seven years - 2007 to 2014 - the percentage of adults who describe themselves as Christian dropped by almost eight percentage points. This drop is most pronounced among young people, a demographic that is especially enthralled by Hillsong.”
I have no problem with this. I can and do enjoy overtly Christian metal, and my Jewish faith is not affected. Any group can make good music, with or without the "right" faith
Can you imagine if the church just donated the money to aid with poverty and starvation rather than huge churches and fancy things?
Cause Jesus totally preached about rock concerts and mega churches 🙄🙄🙄
Skeptical. They say their mission is to "establish God's kingdom on Earth", but God sent that Jesus guy (you know, God in the form of man) who instructed to "go make disciples". He didn't even say "convert everybody", just "go and make disciples". Also, he said "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." By marginalizing LGBTQ, they establish that some fall shorter of the glory of God (not them, obviously). Sorry, but this is lipstick on the pig that is conservative "Christianity".
These megachurches are about profit, not saving your soul
Beware Britain.....they have infiltrated our government in Australia. They are trying to pass laws to allow religion more rights than other groups.
And their ‘prosperity gospel’ equates wealth with godliness. This isn’t religion...it’s Amway, with Jesus.
Hillsong are picking up those seekers after smooth things that exist in every congregation, the modern day Pharisees who are blinded by bling. Jesus had a particular condemnation for the Hillsong-ers of his day.
I take it that all of you are atheists & have never experienced a Hillsong Service. Go see for yourself. While the world around you drops deeper into chaos, & youth drop deeper into isolation as reported by the media, you chide Hillsong for bringing youth hope in the world. You cynics are the Pharisees of the modern day.
It’s a money machine. The music all sounds the same. The pastors are all clones of the founders. Superficial and glossy.
Both!!! I've been to Hillsong in Paris and can say, it is both! They know how to draw a crowd, perform and still minister/market the gospel
There are a lot of “mega churches” like this, particularly in the south that use things not remotely related to religion to draw people in. These “campuses” end up being as big as small colleges. All tax free!
Totally marketing. Just like American Tele-Evangelists only this is from Australia! I don't have an issue with faith I do have an issue with a snow job. Nothing different between this and any political rally. Everyone conforms and everyone relates to it as an overwhelming experience.
The town I live in has enough freshly-built mega church space for every person two times over (at least 3 currently being built, and our town only has 30,000 people). They’re giant empty buildings in huge empty parking lots. It disgusts me that we prioritize tax-free environmental destruction projects like this, that get used once a week.
Can you image a world with non religious people accepting that people have faiths wether they agree or not. As a non religious person I know I can walk into any church in UK and find sanctuary if I ever need it. That will always be good enough for me.
After all. Who am I to judge another person's faith because I don't believe
I know Billy Booth said the Devil shouldn't have all the best tunes, but I often wonder why poor old God seems to get the worst ones.
It's so sad. The more technology develops, the faster we degrade our environment. God save us all
Same issue with electric cars, those batteries create a huge carbon footprint with the chemicals and effort needed to make them.
Wait, I thought we wanted battery powrered cars for the environment?
All so we can keep starring at our smartscreens for longer periods of the day instead. Of interacting with other human beings. Clearly the machines have already taken control and are rapidly eating away at our natural world aswell 🙏🏼😘🌏😢😢😢
Environmental impact and clean up costs must be factored into prices of products and services globally or nothing will ever change
This is our reality!
This is the overview we have.
This is the future that we will see .
The hunger is coming.
Is out of our control.
GOD no listen us.
Why .Our evilness. Offend to God. He is enraged!
Even though Carbon dioxide and its greenhouse effects have become more imminent global threat, these climate crises can’t be discounted, in the middle of unprecedented climate crisis, when we are looking for alternate energy sources.
Oh sorry ma’am just relocate in peace
VOTE BUYING SUBSIDIZED LAND DEGRADATION / JOB EXPORTING & MORE
Live Cattle production model in Nt Qld encourages overstocking /weeds, job exporting while discouraging Water Harvesting /Irrigation/fattening / Meat Processing
Having subsidized the disposal & restocking of the Gulf Flood cattle casualties which mainly died of starvation pneumonia the Taxpayer with the help of the bleeding heart ABC will pick up the subsidized tab for Weed control... The pro-Government, always pro-farmer blind-eyed ABC is a liability not only to our economy but to democracy..
more tax on carbon and more pollution will kill the ones poor and left outside of the covered city ecosystem
Africa have lots fertile land, relocate to Africa! Enough of people who don’t like change, the nature is telling you to move, don’t be like Kodak, Nokia and blackberry. I think we need one world president of the world. If am President of the world, any country that is not doing very well will be relocate to another country, example Zimbabwe! i will relocate everyone in #Zimbabwe to one of the ghost city in #China and turn to Zimbabwe to #farm land.
This is 100% accurate, between the avocado farms in central Chile to mining, the privitized water industry is devastating us here in Chile.
But, but, I thought electric cars were good for the environment...😒
If you lose the center of life, you lose everything.
If you live in the world, positive is the remedy, negative is the weakest, and if the remedy is excessive, it becomes the weakest, the embarrassment is followed. If you go out and food is too sick, you can hurt your ears.
Also, if a man's writing is too much, there is nothing left; if the word is over, there is no follower; if he does not work, he has nothing to eat; If you don't learn, you'll know it.
All of these issues are the result of greed and foolishness that arise from the failure of a person to live well in the center of life. Foolishness is like a child, and greed is always like weeds, so even when plucked and burned, it appears again from where it comes from.
Gentle World in the East of East 인 和 世上 Lee In Seop.
sorry for that, then you have to relocate and get peace
Guys my famous question ??
Junaid Mon Nellikuth
they must be austraulian.
Basically most people who comment on BBC just want likes, they don't actually read the article 🤔
Was at Bethel Woods this past weekend, what an event. The bands were incredible including Ringo...
Love the music, but does anyone else remember that bit in the film where the guy says he gave his five year old kid acid? At that point I just thought ‘what a bunch of pricks’...
I want to say hi to Wavy Gravy and all those from the Hog Farm, sadly I was to young to attend, but I love the spirit of those 3 days of magic, incredible people, music and love for more than the self!
i wish i would have been there......! Iconic.....Peace, Love & Music.....!
How Id love to have a time machine!!! Id be there... As it is I was born three years later, but have the Special Edition Woodstock DVD, as well as a few documentaries, lp, CD etc.
Was to busy getting married to the love of my life that was my Woodstock 💘
Memories and still feeling that same great time.. Fantastic
It was the first turning point of my life. It was my first concert. I was 16
I was sick of hearing about Woodstock by my teens. Capitalists stole it to served their own purposes before the mud even dried! To me, it was my parents' generation demanding the cultural piety they refused to give THEIR parents' generation. And barely a decade later, a lot of them voted for Ronald Reagan. No, when I was 15, I didn't want to listen to the Grateful Dead or CSNY any more than my parents wanted to listen to Frank Sinatra and Glenn Miller.
Great event ! Hope we have another ..
Before iPhones. Before technology. There was just love, music, drugs, sex, and people coming together under the sun and moon. Sounds pretty lovely.
Wish it still felt as peaceful and optimistic...
It was so much more than a music festival it captured the spirit of the time and gave a glimpse of how the world might be a better place... If I could travel back in time I would go to Woodstock x
I saw Ravi Shankar play a set on the televised version of Woodstock, he was amazing. Wish I could travel back in time to see it and also to hear Hendrix play Star Spangled Banner in his own wonderfully tongue in cheek way. Peace and love to all.

"I still feel the mud between my toes"... Time for a shower then hippy
I was 11 years old and in love with the boy next door that went to Woodstock.. He was so cool.. peace everyone..
Still seeing The Who... Roger Daltry - the young version - in my dreams! 😍
Has it been 50 years since I stood in mud grooving out to Jemi Hendricks Sunday morning concert?
It was no different from any other festival. Everybody describes their favourite festival or concert in the similar terms, especially if it was their first one.
Obviously not live, but I watched Woodstock in Guildford Odeon at the time. That was when they had late night showings at 11.00. Those were the days !!
Being young and carefree is so special. ❤❤
Some of these comments just illustrate why humanity doesn’t deserve to exist anymore. Woodstock is one of the most amazing moments in human history.
To have seen Jimi Hendrix there must have been spectacular
At her age I'm surprised her toes can feel anything at all.
I always drink water! I actually love it. I rarely ever have fizzy drinks or juice. Just my own preference.
Water's a pretty sweet deal. Tastes great, is widely available and makes you feel wonderful!
Passion fruit & soda, lemonade version is too sweet. Otherwise Aquelle flavoured waters are awesome!
Ridiculously expensive soft drinks? No thanks, I'll have a lime and soda.
I used to drink soda all the time, now I only drink it maybe a couple times in a week when I want to drink, that is. Otherwise I'm pretty happy with coffee and water.
I love the non-alcoholic grape juice you can buy at wineries. It's such a shame so much of it is spoiled into wine!
Lemonade and lime ( wishing pubs sold diet lemonade ) and if I’m drinking just add vodka !
I stopped drinking alcohol 9 months ago. Best decision I ever made!! However, I miss being able order interesting concoctions. This might just be the answer!! 😋😋 £1.30 for coke and lime cordial; sorted as a regular choice 👌🏼👌🏼
I love lime and soda!

Well I just went with the sentiment of the piece rather than be pedantic.
So many people seem to be going to pubs and clubs and ordering water.
Why isn’t there a “Sponsored” or “Advertorial” heading.... did I miss the small print..
£4.95 for what is essentially a soft drink, bugger off! This is one of the things that really winds me up about pubs, if I’m going out and spending the same on a non alcoholic drink as an alcoholic one it isn’t much of an incentive not to drink alcohol. If you want to entice drinkers away from alcohol I don’t see this being the way, non drinkers may be willing to pay it but you aren’t going to tempt many drinkers away from alcohol with a non alcoholic drink that is more expensive that alcohol.
I like a St Clements if I'm not in the mood for Coca-Cola, really refreshing, although nearly the same price as a glass of wine, so not much incentive to go alcohol free.
Blackcurrant and soda for me. I find it ridiculous that half a coke or lemonade costs more than half a beer. Hardly encouraging for designated drivers!!
Water or orange squash at home usually. I enjoy going to the pub but when I did sober October I found it hard to find soft drinks that weren’t fizzy. I don’t always want a fizzy drink and I’m not keen on blackcurrent cordial.
£3.00 I've been charged for Lime and Soda on more than one occasion and it wasn't even in the city. So no I don't drink them when I'm not drinking I am cheap I get tap water.
So, a few things... doesn't matter if it's alcoholic or not: the less sweet the better. Secondly... seriously I'm just gonna repeat myself but sweet drinks? No. Either give me the peat and smoke or at least some sourness if we are talking non-alcoholic. And the third... no lime? Are you kidding me? In what twisted world?
The hopes and dreams of the drunk customer spilling out his life story for the 6th night in a row that week.
Used to be like and soda but now love a perronni or morretti zero. But only those when I’m out. Otherwise tea, coffee or water
Their profit margin must be fabulous with no duty to pay.
I love lime & soda, if I'm not drinking alcohol. very thirst quenching.
Coke, coffee, iced tea, lemonade, GOOD ginger ale. Also like mixing sparkling water with fruit juice.
The profit margins on non alcoholic drinks are huge and really are a rip off. Lower prices would encourage more to try them and be a benefit in the end
I like a plain soda water in place of one beer but couldn't drink it all night. Sweet drinks aren't my thing but I do love my beer!!

sad .its a game .why would someonelife be taken for a game.insane.
A bit more to it than that I expect dreadful outcome nonetheless
They must be crazy sports fans to fight, for , sports means showing manliness and beings generosity to each others.
Showing real power
So there is not much fun anymore ? Very sad times 😟
Its not a game then. Suspend all pay and put them in the nawty corner. Oh for heavens sake what is wrong with them when people are hurt and killed it takes it to a totally different level! My heart goes out to the Families and loved ones of those killed or hurt. When will this evil stop?!!

Sadly it mimics the violence in the beautiful country of Honduras.
It would be so cool if all of them moved to the USA.
It's only a sport why get so emotional.as humans we still need to evolve a bit more.
The evolution of people has not yet reached its peak, or are we already "going down"?
The level of tension and hatred is beyond me. I keep wondering what's wrong with people. I think even in England or Russia people supporting different clubs can be friends and drink beers together. In the Balkans it's worse - people don't shake hands if they don't support the same club and in Latin America they kill rivals... This is just savage.
Why do people get excited about football, often boring repetitious moves without any goals? And are the "warriors" really ours or just in it for the money? Our basic instincts and feelings do come from our tribal past in a natural environment, where warriors defended the tribe's territory, resources, offspring and freedom. But that no longer applies in man-made mass societies. So we can and should be relaxed about football, the sometimes not so "beautiful game".
These aren't sports fans. These are thugs and morons. Sad day for a proud footballing nation.
In this days' football, fans and supporters have defined it in a wrong way.
Now those are real fans. That's what you call team spirit!
And these are the same people the leftists in America want to let in the door without so much as a how do you do.
Religion results in many more deaths than football.
That's why all professional sports should be banned.
What the hell is wrong with these people? It's just a game. In the greater scheme of life, it doesn't even matter.
Very sorry to read this it shouldn't happen in a football arena. Or anywhere else.
Let us not forget the Great Soccer War that started after El Salvador beat Honduras in Mexico during World Cup qualifications
In Afghanistan 🇦🇫 67 people’s is dead in the boom explosion and 173 others is injured 🤕
The problem is that everybody knows what is needed, but nobody does anything because it will impact their standard of living. Future generations will look back and curse our names. Not something we should be proud of.
The most appropriate obituary I have read in a long time , so sad but so true .
The worst part about the message "We know what is happening and what needs to be done"... The sad fact is a lot of people and media outlets are doing their damndest to ensure enough people still think it's a "hoax", and as long as this happens we will not be able to do enough to stop it. Stop giving air time to climate change deniers!
We human race are doomed...rightly so given what we have done to mother earth...we are all culpable.
Are they going to do the same in the UK ? We used to have many before they all melted leaving our mountain ranges and geographic features behind !! While you are at it - you could also mourn the loss of the raised beaches, that are now too far from the water to be considered beaches !!
Oh dear, first we had tree huggers, now we have glacier mourners, yet we still have natural cycles of weather patterns also. One ice age to the next, it will happen.
I would gladly trade All of my Tomorrows to give my children a world to grow old in. Alas, at almost 70 years of age, I know better.
How did all those attending travel to the ceremony? Oh dear another little melting going on.
So sort that one out Harry and Meghan!
It's too soon, I'm still mourning the last ice-age 😢
The next ice age will consume the plaque and no one will know the history. I'm sure the government will add another tax for glacier's.
It would be wonderful if all the deniers could be the first ones to be impacted by this. Maybe buy us some time with no real loss to the world.
The world will be swallowed by the sun in a few million years, so everything we do will be destroyed for ever anyway. So you could say what's the point lol.
If life gives you lemons, make lemonade.
We could all do so much to save the planet then some terrible cataclysm will come and wipe us out anyway. An asteroid, aliens, nuclear war. Why waste time trying to stop something we can do nothing about.
Live for today, tomorrow will sort itself out.
The glacier has been reduced to a small patch of ice atop a volcano. So resting against a volcano had no influence 🤣😂
long solar cycle, the glacier will be back, in the meantime enjoy the warmth 😀
A volcano may be extinct but residual heat still rises. Only takes a fraction of a degree rise over many years to start the destuction of a glacier
A lot of ignorant people making excuses for human recklessness. Alas, the ignorant and the innocent, as well as the well-intentioned and educated will suffer alike.
I don't deny climate change exists, however with or without humanity the glaciers would have eventually retreated and shrunk in size as we have been coming out of an ice age period. eventually there will be another ice age either mini or great.
as such my problem with the whole climate change argument is that it assumes we as humans can completley control the direction our planet takes and can stop all problematic climate changes such as extreme heat or ice ages, which we cannot we are simply making things quicker/worse it would still happen without our influence just at a different time.
Glaciers form in an ice age, then recede and vanish. Natural earth cycle that’s been happening for millions of years. Fossilized remains of extinct tropical jungles have been found in arctic latitudes - again just part of a cycle with a timescale that humans cannot comprehend. Our current beliefs and observations are hopelessly myopic
Same thing what our ancestors did during the end of last ice age.
So who volunteers for the cull? Volunteers - they will not tell you this but a global end to population increase and a cull of say 2-3 billion humans will do the job (all most overnight!) 8-9 billion is the uber max (we are over 7) 4-5 billion is manageable number - nothing we do will stop it nothing as we simply grow and outstrip the resources.
The North Pole moving is nothing humans can solve or fix or prevent.. the sun going through it’s cycles is another thing we can’t solve. Get a grip of reality.
These disasters will only intensify in frequency There’s a beginning and there will be an end...
6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains.
Luke 21 There will be great earthquakes, and there will be famines and plagues in many lands, and there will be terrifying things and great miraculous signs from heaven.
We need to repent and realize that we are sinners in need of a Saviour. Who already came and died for us, who was is and is to come.. Let us get right with our creator, the creator of the heavens and the earth! Jesus Christ is coming let us repent
It was melting long before any of us were on this planet.
My heartfelt good luck and good times wishes to the people of Britain. Stay strong. You will sail through the tough times.
If they only worked as hard ensuring we have a smooth transition as they are in trying to destroy the scheme, we would have no problem at all
The chapter titled "Mass Hysteria" will be devoted to dogs and cats living together.
'A senior Whitehall source told the Sunday Times: “This is not Project Fear, this is the most realistic assessment of what the public face with no deal. These are likely, basic, reasonable scenarios – not the worst case.”'
Gove is lying through his teeth.
Imagine all MPs working on this dossier together, and making sure no deal works best for us all. Those screaming it's a cliff edge are the same ones helping to ensure it will be
Most of the media including this outlet, who I used to respect, never proactively raise even the possibility of a “best case scenario”. Simply, all of these projections take into account the effect of everything we may possibly lose as a result of leaving and absolutely no account of what we could possibly gain. It assumes that government and business do absolutely nothing to address the changing circumstances or that other countries and the EU will not change their business relationship with the U.K. Similarly you will not see any proactive mention on here of the serious concern of the EU and its constituent nations regarding the U.K. leaving the EU. There is a proper deal to be had, (not a punitive WA like set of handcuffs) which benefits the EU and the U.K. However the EU will not discuss that until we actually leave or until some in this country including the media, stop pushing for a WA lookalike.
Utopia would he politicians working together for the good of all instead if lining their own pockets. I believe we need a deal, not a no deal Brexit. We've been working on this for 3+ years and its inexcusable that a deal hasn't been worked out by now.
"It's going to be easy." they said.
"Everything will be fine!" they keep saying.
"Don't worry too much!"
Of course! <irony>
It appears that this is not the worst case scenario ....this is the likelihood...but there is a worst case scenario....it is just not mentioned in these documents in any great detail
its also well out of date, since it was drawn up on the assumption the government would not act
This is just typical scaremongering from remainers,to try to manipulate the people into believing that Brexit is bad.
Just more lies from remain cry babies.
I love it when the people who screamed project fear keep narrowing their parameters. Michael Gove will be the next great enemy of Brexit for this treasonous display blah blah blah is no doubt coming. People speak like it’s a Shakespearean tragedy these days. All plots and treason.
Hope for the best, prepare for the worst and generally it will fall somewhere in between. I am not naive enough to believe it will be some sudden golden age utopia post brexit, however, nor will it be the dystopian end of days people keep spouting off about.
Everyone is always complaining about Mark Cagney and project fear. Well in that same context you can now claim Michael Gove is part of Project Fear.
When institutions like these plan for things, they have to assume a worst case scenario to be prepared. So there is no project fear, just the plain realities of Brexit. If you don’t like it, then just dance the whole thing
so, that sounds a lot like "project fear". But written for this government
...and here come the comments...
"But we don't care, we just want to leave".
"Everything will be OK because the PM has a 'can-do' attitude".
So from stability and no issues, as we are, in the EU
To choosing a path that may result in food/drug shortages
We are literally being led by donkeys
It's better to construct a worst-case scenario than to revel in a "no-problem" scenario.
Accepting anything other than a 2nd Referendum is accepting the political system we currently have and will continue to have. Democracy means being educated and informed on the policies we're asked to vote against. This is the only real opportunity we have to tell Westminster that we want more information in future and more transparency. Think about it FFS.
If you're caught up in voting for personality over policy then you have been consumed by the mainstream media and will just vote full steam ahead for more of the same...
If the confirmatory vote is to Leave again then the government should be restructuring our economy over a number of years to have a smooth transition to a deal. Basic common business sense surely?? Leaving the EU could be a great thing in the long term but that doesnt mean we need to have a shitstorm in the short term.
Gove has also said since the referendum that leaving the EU would be ‘ quick and easy’ , last week he floated the idea of shutting the banks on 1 Nov 2019 and that a no deal Brexit was not on the cards ( in March 2019 he said it did not form part of the campaign he was asked to lead in 2016) So his comments about the leaked Operation Yellowhammer dossier to the Sunday Times by an ex Government Minister should be ignored as he can’t be trusted. This isn’t ‘project fear’ anymore - it’s the UK Govt contingency plan for a no deal Brexit which will jeopardise peace In Ireland if there are border checks and the GFA core terms allowing free movement of people are ignored.Fundamentally a no deal Brexit will affect the poorest in our society and the infirm. And none of the trade deals we were promised ( ‘ up to 40 ‘ Liam Fox, David Davies et al in 2016) even exist. There is no public or Parliamentary mandate for a no deal Brexit . We should stop this madness by revoking article 50.
I would be more worried if there wasn't a preparedness for a worst scenario outcome..
I don't understand why people are up in arms about this?
I'm surprised the whole brexit process hasn't ground to a halt because somebody's feelings where hurt in the process and they need to to be told it's ok by mummy..
Britain probably needs a general election out of this mess. It voted for Brexit in 2016 but then voted in a Remainer leaning Parliament in 2017. If Labour had semi-competent leadership (which would mean going down a moderate New Labour path again), it would be mopping the floor with this Tories. The best compromise was May's deal.
*snores* back in reality, you'll notice bugger all difference in day to day life, well except the supermarkets have been handed carte blanch to hike the fresh produce prices up and yes, it will take a little longer to get through passport control at airports.
Shouldn't we be happy out of season veg will be harder to get in?
Nice reduced carbon footprint instantly, more varied, normal seasonal diet..
Worst case for those with resources is very different than worst case for those without them.
Now I'm fully convinced that IS was created by the West and Europe
My thoughts and prayers are with Jeremy Corbyn at this difficult time 😔🙏🙏
Now stop and let this sink in... if Corbyn was in charge this guy would be free to come back to our country, posing a risk to all of us. At best we would be paying to feed and clothe him for perhaps the next 5 yrs. I am all for freedom of speech and human rights, but not at the expense of everybody else's right to live free of terror from creatures like this.
All of these people that are saying to bring him back are a bit soft in my eyes. Our justice system is poor, it favours people like this. If he came back, he would serve a few months behind bars, then he would be free to put thousands of innocent people In danger. Leave him where he is and let's hope he kills himself before he brings harm to innocent people
Good, I am paying taxes every month in the UK and I have to wait 6 years and pay 2000£+ to get British citizenship, I think I deserve it more than him.
I was born stateless though I did nothing against anyone and we still struggle to regain our statehood then what the hell about this so call international law “obligation of a state” when the particular person has acted against all of a humanity. I say those who sympathized with such a devil, let them too experience the pain endured by his victims in Syria and Iraq.
Leaving another state to deal with the person whom has never been resident in that country, is wrong. We have a duty to deal with our own rubbish, not pass the book and shun our responsibilities.
Great decision. He holds joint UK & Canadian citizenship so cannot appeal. Result! Canada...he's all yours! 😃🇬🇧👍
Good, well done to the British government, he knew the risks when he left the UK, he made his bed, now let him lay in it.
Right too. Stripped the others of citizenship. He deserves no sympathy.
I really have a hard time feeling empathetic to people who choose terrorism and then decide it's not for them. Nope. He's an enemy of the state. He chose his path. He has to live with the consequences.
Hmmmm !!! my condolence to the family 👪 in advance! A Ghanaian teen took such decision not while ago he is dead!
Glad to witness UK finally reacting and taking action against all these traitors who left UK to join the ISIS. I fully support this decision 👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Some thugs killed a policeman some days ago. Are they going to lose their citizenship, no. No matter how much disgust you feel for a person like this individual, he should be allowed back, and let him face the full wrath of the law.
Candidly, I fear rapists, police killers, the stabbing of people to death etc.
I think the country is strong enough to deal with these ISIS sympathisers.
I would rather they bring him back to the UK and prosecute him for Treason!
Their only allegiance is to the koran not to state, country or ideology . I live in northern nigeria so I have first hand knowledge if this people .
This is a cheap stunt, a way for the government to get a few positive Daily Mail headlines while shunting the problem onto someone else (often a third party state that has had nothing to do with the person’s criminal behavior and doesn’t have the resources to deal with it).
The slippery slope continues.
Revoking citizenship should never be an option.
The UK is basically washing its hands of home grown terrorists because dealing with them is too difficult.
Once you start down this path, the home sec may decide political opponents are next.
As much as you might detest what this guy has done its absolutely ridiculous that someone can take the decision to remove your nationality....could be you next?! I could imagine that some would call for Jeremy Corbyn to have his removed or perhaps even SNP orientated people and remainers.
He wouldn't have lost his citizenship if he was converted to Christian. Next time learn to make the right choice and follow the right step.
This is good news. The British government should do what it needs to protect the British people.
Excellent, while i understand Trudeau is quite annoyed. Somewhat of an awkward situation has now arisen. I don't think Canada should in any way be responsible for him and thus creates a slight dilema easily solved by him doing an Epstein. He made his bed and can rot in it now
His utterly inadequate, yet 'oh so liberal' parents will have to harangue their equally inadequate Canadian Prime Minister, Trudeau now🤣🤣🤣
Stupid decision, one that he will live with for the rest of his life. We all have a responsibility to prevent people from being influenced, for whatever reason, and indoctrinated by hateful rhetoric and ideologies, whether it be militant extremism such as ISIS, or by the fascist rhetoric we see in our streets iterated by right-wing demagogues. But the way to expunge terrorism completely is to stop participating in it - it's an industry.
1.7 million people joined this protest despite torrential rain. I’m so proud to be one of them
The people have had enough. They're tired and ready. Much love to you guys.
more than 1.7m of ppl walking on the street in heavy rain today. I am so proud being one of them!
I love the resilience of people of Hong Kong. Brave on guys. In solidarity with you. The hegemony of China must come to an end....
Thank you for having our voice be heard! Please support Hong Kong for #freedomhk with our demands be real!
We should be following their example and doing the same thing here in the U.S.
But yesterday they were nearly an half million to support China and singing the National Anthem. Where were you BBC and CNN?
Today, our emperor bar will also form a patriotic United front with other patriotic organizations to jointly voice its solidarity with compatriots at home and abroad. We must not only let the world hear our voice, but also let the people of the world know the ugly behavior of this group of clowns! Moreover, we would also like to say loudly that we firmly support the Hong Kong police! Hong Kong, is China's Hong Kong!帝吧出征！
BBC, very likely you've missed a '0' in the number.
It’s amazing how the bbc seam to support Hong Kong democracy supports, but here in the uk they seam to do everything in there power to undermine our, with supporting the remainders in Brexit at every opportunity
I believe it is at least 1,000,000. They are still walking on the street now and non-stop. (7 hours)
Funny no mention of the 100s of thousands who gathered yesterday are fed up with the disruption and are having their lives ruined by the mob
Hong Kong is part of China, we are enjoying freedom and democracy, we can gather for demonstrations and have freedom of speech.
Unfortunately these people are on their own. You got all these nations that like to prop up all the virtues of democracy are not putting any political pressure on China.... And that's because business comes before blood and freedom always. That's why Western nations are so cozy with dictatorships and despotic regimes around the world. Many of which they propped up
I wouldn’t want to be threatened by Beijing either good luck to them and their freedom.
“If this long island story of ours is to end at last, let it end only when each one of us lies choking in his own blood upon the ground." ~ Winston Churchill
Stand with Hong Kong!
Fight for freedom!
Let's do this in Britain. The BBC supports general strikes now! <3
When there is a demonstration in Europe it's always uncivilized, against democracy and European or American values but when there is a demonstration in Russia, Hong Kong, Venezuela, Iran...... Then they r pro democractic. I am a bit confused
Not looking good.I hope we do not have another Tienanmen square. China will not bend.
Surprised you're not telling the Chinese that democracy leads to starvation, no medicine and all the rest of the rubbish you come up with to overthrow a democratic vote.
Funny that isn't it.... Pro democracy rallies in Hong Kong whilst the UK Parliament ignores the democratic wishes of 17.5 million people in the UK and not a peep of outrage from the Brussels Broadcasting Corporation
We stand with the people of Hong Kong. Free Hong Kong from the communists. Long live socialism!!
These protesters and rioters are criminals and thugs..they are blocking roads and traffic and airport, damaging public properties including the Legislative Council, surrounding and attacking police officers and police stations at will and also causing chaos to Hong Kong and disruption to daily lives and operation of the airport...The people of Hong Kong have had enough of these violence and unlawful acts from these illegal protesters and rioters. SHAME on these illegal protesters and rioters.
BBC is obviously being bias on reporting. Why BBC didn't report that 500,000 rally in Hong Kong for peace and respect for rule of law yesterday??
